Available Workshops for 2003

Please note that certain workshops have limited seating. Workshops are available for all three sessions unless otherwise indicated in the descriptions below.

.  Financial & Retirement Planning for Women - This workshop will look at financial and retirement planning for women with a special focus on investing for retirement in turbulent times.  Facilitators: Allison Edwards & Susan Springette (2 sessions - morning and 1st afternoon workshop) 

2.  Healthy Eating - Confused about what to eat? Learn about healthy diets and lifestyle changes that will improve your energy, immune system and well being. Facilitator: Dr. Sarah Baillie (1 session - 2nd afternoon workshop) 

3.  Women and Men in the Workplace:  How conversational Style Makes or Breaks your Relations with Others -  This workshop will focus on learning the different ways men and women talk, how to recognize the most commonly misinterpreted rituals, and understanding the reactions to each others words. Facilitator:  Pat Watson. (2 sessions - morning and 1st afternoon)    

4.  Menopause and Perimenopause - From mood swings to hot flashes... A talk for every woman. Learn about natural approaches to menopause and perimenopause. Facilitator: Dr. Sarah Baillie. (2 sessions - morning and 1st afternoon workshop)

5.  Defining Success - Women in Business - How do you measure success? Strike your own path in the business world. Facilitator: Dr. Daurene Lewis (2 sessions - both afternoon workshops)

6.  Women in Non-Traditional Trades How to deal with everyday challenges. Facilitator: Donna Bonner (2 sessions - both afternoon workshops)

7.  Alternative Healing / Reiki / Aroma Therapy - Exploring alternative healing methods. Facilitator: Gail Bannister (2 sessions - morning and 1st afternoon workshop)  

8.  Tai Chi - An interactive workshop to improve health, flexibility and balance. *Wear relaxed clothing to allow movement* (2 sessions - morning and 2nd afternoon workshop) 

9.  Personal Safety - Tips, threat awareness, identification and assessment. Your legal standing on self protection. Facilitator: RCMP Cst. Angela Corscadden    

10.  It's Time to Manage Your Time - The session summarizes principles and techniques that assist in the solution of time wasters. The workshop will cover analysis of time use, principles and techniques of time management, managing interruptions and controlling time and balancing our home/work lives. Join us for some serious and fun filled exercises and stories that we can share to make for a happy experience. Facilitator: Sara Somers (2 sessions - morning and 1st afternoon workshop) 

11.  Aboriginal Womens Issues: National Aboriginal Issues relating to women. Focus will be on issues pertaining to Aboriginal women in the Atlantic area. This Along with the presentation, oportunities for discussion and questions will be given to those participating in the workshop.  Facilitator: Laurieanne Stevens (1 session - morning workshop)

12.  Embracing Change - Explore the federal government's record on the hiring and development of visual minorities in the federal public service and the programs and services that can help address the gaps. Facilitator: Lynn Jones (2 sessions - morning and 2nd afternoon workshop)
