International Women's Day 2011 will be celebrated Tuesday, March 8, 2011.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

We encourage you to take this day to focus upon and remember the struggles of women around the world.  It is a chance for women to reflect on the past and on-going progress and gains made in the struggle

for peace, equal rights and social advancement. This day commemorates the hard work and

dedication to women around the world who are at the forefront of advancing women's issues and

ensuring that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.

The IWD Organizing Committee made up of volunteers of Federal Government Departments and the

Public Service Alliance of Canada is excited to offer an extra special program this year as we

commemorate 100 years of celebrating International Women's Day!!

Our program and website are still a work in progress; we plan to have the site updated and the information sent out to department worksite coordinators by early February.

Nova Scotia women from Federal Departments, Agencies, Crown Corporations, the Military, the Public Service Alliance of Canada and their retirees are invited to attend this year's event.
