By this point, most of you should have received your worksite confirmations.  If you do not receive anything by Tuesday, please contact Rhonda Doyle LeBlanc to confirm.
 
Also, please read the following for your information:
 

Please note:

 

·          We have an additional workshop option for Section C of the conference. The workshop is called the Aboriginal Talking Circle and it will hold a limited number of participants. If you have women who would like to change to this workshop, please include in your amendment and Rhonda will try to fit them in.

 

·          Please advise of any cancellations.  These can even be sent the day of the event to open spots for other participants.  Please send cancellations to: rhonda.doyleleblanc@ec.gc.ca

 

·         Participants attending the Yoga and/or Sensual Sculpt workshop should bring a towel or mat.

 

·         Participants attending the Latin Dance and Chi Kung workshop should wear light comfortable clothing and sneakers and may also want to bring some bottled water.

 

·         Participants attending the Scrapbooking workshop are encouraged to bring along some of their own pictures for the scrapbook.

 

·         There will be people attending the conference with severe allergies and environmental sensitivities.  Please make participants aware of this and remind them that this is a smoke and scent-free conference.

 

·         The Chi Kung and Latin Dance workshops are being held at the Dartmouth Sportsplex. Directions and room names to be provided at registration.

 

Other info for participants:

 

·         The Holiday Inn Harbourview is located just next to the MacDonald Bridge in Dartmouth. The Dartmouth Sportsplex is across the street from the Hotel.

·         Check-in begins at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, March 5th.

·         The hotel restaurant will offer a buffet lunch for $13.00 (taxes in).  A limited number of lunch tickets will be available to purchase during the course of the morning.  The same menu and price will be available in the downstairs restaurant to accommodate overflow from the second floor dining room. Alternatively, there are a number of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel and Quickie’s Coffee Shop which is also located in the hotel.

·         Parking at the Holiday Inn will be free for IWD Participants in the designated parking area.

·         Information booths from various organizations will be on display.

·         In lieu of a registration fee, donations are being collected for the Halifax Assistance Fund.  Your donation will be much appreciated.  More information may be found on their website at www.halifaxassistancefund.org

Wow.  Registration for the IWD started today and we already have more than 200 women registered!
 
It's no surprise that the first workshop to fill up was Massage.  Please visit the Workshops page to get updated information on what workshops still have openings.  Thank you for your participation.

International Women's Day information will be sent to departmental worksite coordinators on the afternoon of February 1.

Please note that registration starts February 6th and will run to February 15th.  To ensure you get into your preferred workshops, register early as workshops are filled first come...first serve.

Also, it is important to include your alternate workshops choices and your worksite coordinator to ensure that you receive confirmation of your workshops.
